What are fuel injectors?

These small devices force fuel though a small nozzle in an even spray pattern towards the pistons. A good spray pattern insures that the fuel is burned efficiently. As your engine ages carbon buildup can alter the spray pattern of the injectors and in some cases cause injector failure. Replacing injectors is an expensive project – however caring for your injectors is simple, easy and cost effective.

What is a fuel injection service?

Done correctly – the fuel injection service will keep you car running smoother, more fuel efficient and prolong the life of your injectors.  The correct method is to connect directly into your cars fuel rail, using a high quality cleaning solution mixed with gas to clean the injectors directly. While some claim that solutions added to your gas tank will clean your fuel system – they will not clean as completely as a fuel injection flush machine.

How often should fuel injectors be serviced?

The common answer is to have them serviced every 30,000 miles.  But like most recommended maintenance there are a lot of deciding factors involved.

The current mileage on your vehicle – the higher the mileage the more likely you will need injector cleaning sooner rather than later.

Your personal driving style – stop and go driving in town or multiple short trips may require you to perform fuel injector service more often.

You should discuss your car, truck or SUV’s maintenance with you auto repair service center.  They will be able to advise you on needed maintenance based on your vehicles mileage, condition and your personal needs.

Technicians recommend that fuel injection service be performed every 30,000 miles to keep your fuel injectors working efficiently and your vehicle operating at peak-performance levels. There are also several symptoms to watch for to determine if you need fuel injection service, which include the following: lean misfire, which is a misfire caused by an air/fuel mixture that is too lean, meaning there is not enough fuel (a lean misfire will trigger your “check engine” light); rough idle; poor acceleration; and higher carbon monoxide or hydrocarbon emissions.
